Cruz came to the shelter with severe entropion, this is a condition when the eyelid
rolls inward and can be quite painful and cause irritation to the eye. He has since
had a revision surgery to correct this condition, however it was not completely
corrected (which can often happen with these surgeries). He has experienced some
severe irritation which has caused an ulcer on his cornea, the ulcer is so severe that
he may need his eye removed. He would greatly benefit from more specialized care
and consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist to see what the best next steps
for him are.
Additionally, Cruz is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is
displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. This animal would benefit from a
calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and

This pretty girl is breathing pretty loudly with some evidence of abnormal upper
airway concerns ("stertor"). This can be due to inflammation, a mass, or foreign
material in the nasal passages; a long soft palate; or issues with the laryngeal
saccules and will require a sedated exam if it doesn't respond to initial treatment for
a respiratory infection. She's hoping for transfer placement by 2/7 at 3pm.

and kennel distress. He showed fearful defensive behaviors with animal control
officers. August is growling in the kennel and slightly tense. He takes treats gently

but is treat-motivated, smart, and friendly once he feels comfortable. He enjoys
playing with toys and is a playgroup candidate. Shelter life has been tough for Archie
once he realizes treats are involved, though, he settles nicely and that nervous
kennel behavior fades away.

people, but he’s very treat-motivated, smart, and friendly once he’s comfortable.
With patience and positive reinforcement, Archie’s true personality really shines.

*Fitzgerald is exhibiting signs of arousal and anxiety in the shelter environment and
is having a hard time adapting. He first came to the shelter as a stray and arrived
with another dog. We were told that he did not do well with small animals, with no
further details. He was adopted and was in the home for 1 week. He was returned for
having separation anxiety and showing destructive behaviors, being reactive to
strangers and dogs, and for possibly resource guarding the bed from the adopters.
He was adopted again and returned after 1 day for being reactive to dogs and
showing anxious behaviors.
At the shelter, he shows anxious behaviors in his kennel like pacing, panting, and
fecal tracking. He avoids new people but warms up with time and treats. He barks at
other dogs approaching on leash. *Fitzgerald has been to playgroup. He shows dog
selective behaviors and requires proper introductions to new dogs. With proper
intros, time to decompress and adjust, we think he may be successful in a home
with other dogs.

new surroundings. He is a nervous, anxious boy who needs a steady, consistent
routine. This animal would benefit from an environment with less stimulation and
some training to help them cope with over arousing stimuli and anxiety.
